Buenos Aires, Argentina, ECU — Lanús withstood a remarkable second-half comeback to claim three points in a five-goal thriller at Estadio Pedro Bidegain.
The visitors raced to a commanding lead through Carlos Izquierdoz in the 30th minute and Rodrigo Castillo six minutes earlier at the 24-minute mark. Marcelino Moreno extended the advantage four minutes after halftime, putting Lanús ahead 3-0.
San Lorenzo mounted a furious rally led entirely by Alexis Cuello, who pulled one back in the 53rd minute before adding his second in the 86th minute. The forward completed his hat-trick deep into stoppage time at 90+3, but his heroics came too late as Lanús held on for the victory.
