USA, — Detroit City FC turned an early deficit into a commanding U.S. Open Cup triumph, scoring five unanswered goals after Michigan Rangers FC drew first blood at Legacy Center.
Giuseppe Barone gave the Rangers a shock lead in the 6th minute, but Detroit leveled through Preston Tabort Etaka in the 22nd minute to restore parity before the break.
The second half belonged entirely to Detroit City. Maxi Rodriguez broke the deadlock in the 56th minute to put the hosts ahead for the first time, and Alexander Dalou extended the advantage in the 65th minute. Ates Diouf added a fourth in the 81st minute before Etaka sealed the rout with his second of the night in the 86th minute.
